Part of playing better golf is tied to playing with equipment that won't hinder your results when you make relatively good swings. This could mean playing with the right loft on driver to maximize carry distance or ensuring that an improper lie angle isn't the reason you consistently hit it right.
Clubfitting at ROK is going to look and feel a little different then what you might be used to from other fitters. Our Director of Golf, Dan Suedbeck, has fit hundreds of golfers in his career both at the retail level and at a private golf club. He's seen what can happen when players spend hundreds of dollars for a fitting appointment and try to cram it into a one, two, or three hour window. Sometimes it works and you can feel confident a recommendation in a club(s) that will help a golfer improve their game. Often though players become fatigued or they swear that they normally hit it different then they are during the fitting. Now the fitter is taking a best guess at what will work for the player. Meanwhile the player that came in enthusiastic about the thought of new clubs isn't confident in purchasing a driver for $400-500 or a set of irons for $1,000. The only thing worse then a bad golf swing is a player that lacks confidence.
Our approach is going to lean on the strengths that ROK Golf provides our members and guests. The main one being people can use TrackMan to gather data at their pace over a period of time. This allows us to get a very good baseline for how player swings the club and his/her shot tendencies. No more pressure of trying to perform during that small fitting window. Once you let our staff know you are in the market for a new club(s), we will begin to gather data from your sessions in here. As we start to see trends we will begin to make recommendations and have you hit shots with various clubs. Once we feel like you've hit the best fitting club we can provide you we will make a recommendation. It won't be a hurried approach where we try to "sell" you why you should make a change. If the data isn't clear that a new club will perform better then there will be no need to change. You now either walk away more confident that you are playing the right equipment or you upgrade to better performing equipment that you are also 100% confident in using. Either way you are playing better golf at the end of the process.
